This has been the hardest decision we have ever had to make... Unfortunately, we don't have room in our program to keep a vWD carrier but he would make an excellent "starter dog" for someone who is just wanting to get into showing. He would also make a great junior handling dog. He has an EXTREMELY outgoing temperament and LOVES to play, in and out of the ring! In fact, I often refer to this boy as being part CLOWN! He was raised with a baby and a toddler so he is VERY good with children.He recently won Best Male for his first UKC points at the United Shetland Sheepdog Association Show on June 14.
He is very intelligent and a lot of
fun.
We really hate to see him go!

(Special breeding considerations)
Because Hatter is a vWD Carrier, we would prefer to see him in either
a non-breeding show home or with someone who understands that any breeding done
should be to a DNA tested CLEAR female. Any pups kept from such breedings
MUST be VetGen DNA tested to discover their status before breeding. It is
not necessary to test the pups who go to pet homes as they will not be affected
if the mother is CLEAR.
This is the only responsible way to handle this as vWD can be a
life-threatening condition but is not an issue for the dogs with Carrier status.
